I developed the form of „Maximiliana“ from my project „Alma“. It was an attempt to put this form in a three-dimensional context. The „Maximiliana“ bricks produced in the 3D printing process are subject to the concept of working only with natural materials. The name belongs to a closer relative of mine who was a farmer´s woman and always reminds me of the direct work with earth „Maximiliana“ is the result of processing the natural Sauener clay from Brandenburg in Germany which, in combination with biomaterial, makes it more plastic and therefore perfect for processing in 3D ceramic printing of natural clay.
This opens the possibility of developing new ceramic forms with complex geometric elements, which can be used indoors and outdoors, and thus creates a link between architecture and clay constructions. The Idea is to bring classic bricks to a new design level through the use of modern technology. The special feature of the individual objects lies precisely in this interplay of traditional craftmanship and the design possibilities of the digital.
